"Rather than being reactive to opposing counsel, I pride myself on taking control and being proactive."

Taylor Wallin is a Certified Family Law Specialist, an elite distinction among attorneys in California. Taylor's experience spans all areas of family law and includes extensive experience with international child custody issues, move-away cases, complex financial matters, division of royalties, and related litigation.

A passionate advocate, Taylor excels at trial and at telling her client's story before a judge in an organized and persuasive fashion. In her representation of parents, both mothers and fathers, Taylor helps resolve the emotion-filled challenges of complex child custody disputes. She often works with affiliated professionals, such as forensic accountants, psychologists and other expert witnesses, to achieve favorable outcomes.

Through the course of her representations, Taylor has negotiated and modified child and spousal support agreements, obtained restraining orders to prevent domestic violence incidents, and addressed issues in same sex marriages. In addition, Taylor has helped several couples in jointly owned business through their marital dissolution as well as litigated contract disputes, partnership dissolution, and real estate disputes.

Taylor's style of communication and compassion is welcomed by her clients, who appreciate being informed about their matters as well as understanding the strategies and options available to them. She is a frequent speaker on emerging issues, including on ways to conduct virtual divorce proceedings.

Taylor is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where she sits on the President’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Legal Profession, and also serves as a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. Taylor has earned ongoing recognitions from Southern California Super Lawyers as a Rising Star, which designates top attorneys under the age of 40, for the past five years. For the last two years, she has been designated Top 100 Rising Stars and Top 50 Women Rising Stars.

Q&A with Taylor B. Wallin

Do you have a specialty within family law?

I am a Certified Family Law Specialist. While I handle complicated financial issues, I have developed a unique skill set with international and interstate child custody issues when two countries or two states are fighting for jurisdiction. I also specialize in domestic violence restraining order trials and child custody move-aways / relocation cases.

How do you work with clients?

At the very beginning of the case, I see the big picture and immediately develop a detailed strategy to get to our end goal. Rather than being reactive to opposing counsel, I pride myself on taking control and being proactive.

What major challenges do you help clients manage?

I help my clients manage the stress of litigation by always keeping the client informed and aware of our strategy. I eliminate my client’s fear of the unknown by providing clients with a clear path to resolution and managing their realistic expectations – they know we can handle anything thrown our way!

How can your representation make a difference?

I prepare meticulously and articulate my client’s position clearly and concisely so a judicial officer can rule favorably for my client. If forced to litigate, I present my client’s case with poise, integrity and superior knowledge of complicated legal issues.

What value do you deliver to clients?

Protection. I protect my clients by helping them understand what is likely to happen next, which reduces anxiety and stress. I protect my clients from making bad financial decisions or decisions based in anger or revenge.

What is your favorite part of your work?

Although I try to settle all of my matters, I particularly love telling my client’s story in the courtroom through artful presentation of facts and evidence. I enjoy the personal satisfaction of helping a client through one of the most difficult times of his or her life.

Describe how you personalize your counsel.

I feel compassion for my clients, but my primary role is to be an advocate and offer advice, even when that means helping a client get out of his or her own way. My clients know that I am invested in the successful outcome of their case, not just a paycheck.

What achievements/representations are you most proud of?

I am proud to be a Certified Family Law Specialist. One memorable achievement was the successful conclusion of a 30-day trial where I proved the opposing party’s financial fraud and malicious breach of fiduciary duty.

Where did you grow up?

I call Los Angeles home, but my family, which includes my 3 three siblings, moved frequently when I was younger for my father’s job. I grew up in Nevada, Texas, and in Southern and Northern California. Now, ironically, I handle many move-away cases.

Favorite past time?

I enjoy playing fantasy football, snowboarding and wine tasting.

Favorite book or movie?

"The Thomas Crown Affair" is my long-time favorite, but I’m really an action movie junkie. The more ridiculous and unbelievable, the better. I love the John Wick series.
